Lilongwe, Malawi - The Ministry of Justice has launched the Chilungamo Program, aimed at financially boosting the country's judicial infrastructure. This move addresses longstanding concerns over dilapidated courts and staff housing.
Lawmakers, including Horace Chipuwa and McNice Abu Naliwa, had urged renovations for Mapuyo and Nsonde Magistrate Courts. Minister Titus Mvalo assured parliamentarians that Chilungamo would prioritize upgrades.
Chilungamo's focus includes renovating judicial staff houses and constructing new courts nationwide. A dedicated budget proposal for 2025/2026 will support these initiatives.
The program promises enhanced justice delivery and improved working conditions for judicial personnel, marking significant progress for Malawi's judicial system.
